A brief description of services and clinics is given below. For further information contact reception at either Medical Centre. Well Women ClinicsThese
Clinics are open to all women. Women aged between 25 and 49 will be invited
to attend every THREE years and those between 50 and 64, every FIVE years
for a cervical smear. Well Man ChecksThese
checks are available to all men wishing to attend. The practice nurse will
perform routine checks, i.e.. Blood pressure, urine testing, height and
weight measurements, and will also give advice on Healthy Lifestyle. Asthma ClinicsClinics are held at the following times :

There is a treatment room at both Medical Centres for dealing with minor injuries and surgical procedures that can be performed by the doctors.
Clinics are held for Dorset patients at Burton on Thursdays from 1.15pm onwards. Hampshire patients need to contact reception to be put in touch with the midwife who will arrange a home visit. Ante -natal appointments are also available during normal surgeries, with the GP if required. The practice provides a full maternity service including pre-conceptual counselling, ante-natal and post-natal care. The Health visitor runs Parentcraft classes at Burton

A full range of family planning services , including confidential advice, is available at the Family Planning Clinics which are run by the practice nurses and doctors at the following times :

A Chiropodist attends Burton Surgery every Tuesday, alternate Wednesdays and the 1st three Thursdays in the month. Domiciliary visits are carried out on Wednesday afternoons. The Foot Care Assistant attends on alternate Wednesdays.
We
would encourage ALL patients to have a check-up every THREE YEARS. These are
normally booked with the Practice Nurse.
All patients over the age of 75 are invited to have an annual health check.
If you find it difficult to get to the surgery we can arrange for this check
to be done in your home.
These clinics for "At Risk" groups are generally held between October and January. Please contact Reception for an appointment.
The
Practice Nurses are available to give advice on any vaccinations required
for countries you are visiting. If possible please fill out our
"Travel Advice Questionnaire"- held at Reception and then consult the
nurse at least 3 weeks prior to your departure to ensure that the
vaccinations are effective.
If you have not been vaccinated in the last TEN years please make an
appointment with the practice nurse.
The practice provides hearing aids to all patients with hearing problems who need them. Please arrange to see a Doctor if you are interested in the service.
A practice based physiotherapist is available at BOTH Burton and Bransgore on referral from your Doctor.
A psychologist and counsellor attend the Practice each week.
The Doctors provide some services that ARE NOT covered by the NHS: these include health insurance reports and examinations, employment medicals, private medical certificates, passport application forms, diving and aviation medicals etc. A list of fees charged for these services is displayed in the Reception areas of both surgeries.
