Other Services

    A brief description of services and clinics is given below. For further information contact reception at either Medical Centre.

Well Women Clinics

These Clinics are open to all women. Women aged between 25 and 49 will be invited to attend every THREE years and those between 50 and 64, every FIVE years for a cervical smear.
Included in the Well Women check are height, weight, blood pressure measurements, urine testing and advice on healthy living.

Well Man Checks

These checks are available to all men wishing to attend. The practice nurse will perform routine checks, i.e.. Blood pressure, urine testing, height and weight measurements, and will also give advice on Healthy Lifestyle.
Please make an appointment with reception in person or by phone if you would like to take up the offer of a Well man check.

Respiratory Clinics

Clinics are held at the following times :

  • Wednesday afternoon

BRANSGORE

  • Thursday afternoon

Diabetic Clinics Top

Clinics are held at the following times :

BURTON

  • Tuesday afternoon and Friday mornings

BRANSGORE
  • Monday afternoons

 

Hypertension Clinic

 Clinics are held at BURTON Thursday mornings and Friday mornings.

Minor Surgery

 There is a treatment room at both Medical Centres for dealing with minor injuries and surgical procedures that can be performed by the doctors and Practice nurses.

Ante-Natal Clinics

Clinics are held for Dorset patients at Burton on Thursdays from 1.00pm onwards. Hampshire patients need to contact reception to be put in touch with the midwife who will arrange a home visit. Ante -natal appointments are also available during normal surgeries, if required. The Practice provides a full maternity service including pre-conceptual counselling, ante-natal and post-natal care. Parent craft classes are un at Burton, please ask the Health Visitor team for details.

Baby/Child Health Surveillance Clinics  Top

Babies and young children are seen for weighing, immunisations, development checks and any advice needed.

BURTON - in St. Luke's Church Hall
  • 3rd Wednesday in the month 1.00pm - 3.00pm

BRANSGORE

  • 1st Wednesday in the month 12.30 - 2.00pm

Family Planning

A full range of family planning services , including confidential advice, is available at the Family Planning Clinics which are run by the practice nurses and doctors at the following times :

  • BURTON - from 5.00pm every Monday 

Appointments are also available during normal surgeries if required, please contact reception.

Cryotherapy    

Nurse appointments are available for the use of liquid nitrogen for the removal of warts and minor skin lesions that the Doctor has seen and diagnosed.

 Chiropody

A Chiropodist attends Burton Surgery and appointments are available by referral. Domiciliary visits are carried out on Wednesday afternoons. The Foot Care Assistant attends on alternate Wednesdays.

Health checks Top

We would encourage ALL patients to have a check-up every THREE YEARS. These are normally booked with the Practice Nurse.
 

Flu Vaccination Clinics 

These clinics for over 65s and "At Risk" groups are generally held between October and January. Please contact Reception for an appointment.

 

Travel Advice and Vaccinations

The Practice Nurses are available to give advice on any vaccinations required for countries you are visiting. If possible please fill out our
"Travel Advice Questionnaire"- held at Reception and then consult the nurse at least 6 weeks prior to your departure to ensure that the vaccinations are effective.
If you have not been vaccinated in the last TEN years please make an appointment with a practice nurse.  Not all vaccinations are provided by the NHS; there will be a charge for some types, please consult with our Nurses who will be happy to help you.  The necessary Travel Vaccination form is available from the NOTICE BOARD

 

 

Flu & Pneumo

Vaccination Clinics

 

If you are 65 or over, or you suffer from:

  • Chronic Heart Disease

  • Chronic respiratory disease

  • Chronic renal disease

  • Disease or treatment causing lowered immunity

you are entitles to free 'Flu injections.

If you are over 65 and never been immunised against pneumococcal infection, you are entitled to a free pneumococcal injection

 

Special Clinics are run at both surgeries from each October. Contact reception from September.

 

 

 

Hearing Aids and Audiology

The practice provides hearing aids to all patients with hearing problems who need them. Please arrange to see a Doctor if you are interested in the service.

Physiotherapy

A practice based physiotherapist is available at BOTH Burton and Bransgore on referral from your Doctor.

Psychology/Counselling

A psychologist and counsellor attend the Practice each week.

Non NHS Work Top

The Doctors provide some services that ARE NOT covered by the NHS: these include health insurance reports and examinations, employment medicals, private medical certificates, passport application forms, diving and aviation medicals etc. A list of fees charged for these services is displayed in the Reception areas of both surgeries.
