Nurse Practitioner
|
Helen Nowell RGN BSc (Hons) NP Helen joined us in October 2009 and is a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner. Helen works with the Doctors triaging urgent appointments and runs her own clinics and sees patients for a variety of problems including the assessment and treatment of minor illnesses. Helen leads our team of experienced nurses. |

Practice Nurse Team

Our nurses
are able to help with blood pressure checks, cervical smears, family
planning, dressings and first aid, injections and immunisations, removal of
stitches, ear syringing, hearing tests and aids, ECG's as well as Asthma, Diabetes
and Hypertension clinics. They also give advice on minor ailments, travel vaccination
requirements, healthy lifestyles and run Smokestop clinics.
Appointments with our nurses maybe made at EITHER surgery by contacting
reception AFTER 10am.
Caroline Gribble,
Jeannette Carroll and Tufty Hawkins are our Phlebotomists (someone who takes blood
tests) - this service is available at BOTH surgeries for our elderly and
infirm patients who are not able to get to either Christchurch or Bournemouth
Hospitals
District Nurse Team

This team of nurses and a health care assistant provide nursing assessment and planned care to the Practice's patients who are unable to attend the surgery. Their specialist services include : continence, palliative care, assessment of need for home equipment, assessment and referral to leg ulcer clinics. District nursing services are provided 7 days a week between 9.00am and 5.00pm, and an emergency service is available between 7.00pm - 7.00am. The team can be contacted: Direct - 01202- 487817
The SMILE Team (Self Management In Local Environment)
This team serves patients of both Bransgore and Burton Medical centres and those of the Grove Surgery. Jane Bush is the Lead Nurse and her team consist of two Self Care facilitators, Claire Smith and Rachel Symms. The team care for the vulnerable elderly in their homes aiming to reduce emergency admissions to hospital.
Health Visitor Team

This
team
specialises in child and family heath and is also trained to give advice on
many social and emotional issues affecting patients of all ages. The team
cover BOTH surgeries, groups and clinics offered include, ante-natal
sessions, post natal groups, parenting courses
and Child Health
Clinics which are held in conjunction with the doctors.

Lorraine Trim is the Practice Manager and is responsible for the running of the Practice. She can help you with any questions about administration or non-medical aspects of your treatment at the Practice. Mrs Trim is assisted in the administration by the Practice Administrator, Kay Towler. |
Receptionists/Computer Supervisor
Our team of receptionists are here to help you. They have a very difficult job to do with calls and enquiries from every direction, it may be that they have to make a few enquiries to know how best to help you. Any details that you do give will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Belinda Westlake is our IT Supervisor and is responsible for much of the data entry and auditing, as well as training in our computer system.
Secretary
The Practice secretary is Linda Kilmurray aided by Susan Lawson.
Other Members of the Primary Healthcare Team
Also
part of our team are community midwives, community psychiatric nurses,
physiotherapists, a psychologist, counsellors, chiropodists and a foot care
assistant. They all attend the surgery, and details are available from the
receptionists or your doctors.
